The causes of sludge bulking are as follows. One is filamentous bulking caused by rapid propagation of filamentous organisms. The other is non-filamentous bulking caused by mass accumulation of highly viscous matters in zooglea.
The traditional aeration methods create ecological environment which is not conducive to the growth and reproduction of zooglea in the reactor. The filamentous organisms would gradually prevail and cause sludge bulking.
For sludge bulking in high-rate and low DO level conditions, increase oxygen supply simply by install submersible floating aerator. Its efficient gas-water mixing and ejection, tri-dimensional mixing and push-flow increase the hydraulic shearing force, and help shear the filamentous bacteria. High mass transfer efficiency provides sufficient dissolved oxygen to help zooglea grow dominantly and to restrain the growth of filamentous organisms. The strong sheering force makes the fluffy sludge self-polymerize and compact, and detaches the filamentous organisms on the surface of the flocculent sludge.

高負荷低溶解氧狀況下的污泥膨脹,增加供氧,采用潛浮式曝氣機進行曝氣,其水氣混合和噴射混流,立體攪拌推流,增加水力剪切力,通過射流剪切絲狀菌,同時高傳質效率可以提供充足的溶解氧給菌膠團優勢菌群生長,同時抑止了絲狀菌的生長環境。通過曝氣時產生的強水力剪切作用使蓬松污泥自聚、密實,同時使絮團表面絲狀菌脫落。
